The Coral Garden was my final major project for my Stitched Textiles Diploma. It celebrates the quirkiness, colour and fragility found at the edge of the sea and my love of constructing with ‘found’ bits and bobs and electronics.
As a result of this installation I was selected to be a licentiate member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen with distinction and with this came the opportunity to exhibit at the Mall Gallery the following January. For these I created larger, more substantial corals which stood alone. These have since found new homes in the UK and Australia.
